Now that the PSP Go is on the scene, the old iPhone needs to pull out all the stops if it wants to keep hold of its share of portable gamers.  Today we’re going to check out some of the top shooting games on offer for your iPhone and iPod Touch.

If you like to shoot your way through a game without leaving your sofa then you should read on to find out which ones you should download to help you through your boring day.

Shooter

Imagine that, a shooting game called Shooter…could it be more obvious?  This game involves sniping so you can hide away out of sight and pray on unexpecting victims.  The game is based on the film Shooter and involves you kitted out with sniper rifles as you would imagine.

This version of the game stays true to the film and follows along with the storyline nicely.  There are 6 missions overall and 5 submissions to make the whole game feel larger than it is.  You will do well if you have a strong grasp of patience and accuracy, as if you were a real sniper!!!

Terminator: Salvation

If you haven’t heard of the film you’ve been living under a rock - Terminator Salvation has had it’s good reviews and it’s bad ones, but at least the game performs nicely.

We’ve all been waiting to have a go on the game version of the film ever since it was mentioned - thankfully the graphics are great and the game play is good fun.  You roam around the levels as John Conner as you would expect and you get a little buddy who gives you a helping hand when you need it.  The controls are easy to pick up making this a truly fun experience.

Brothers In Arms: Hour of Heroes

This game has worked its way in to the iPhone classic gaming room of fame so to speak - the graphics in this game are shockingly good, better in fact than your PS2 or your old X-Box.  You’ll be surprised when you see the quality you get for your money.

The game is fact paced and the story is fun to work along.  The game control is similar to that taken up by Terminator: Salvation and the whole experience is the reason why this game has become so popular on the AppStore.

Metal Gear Solid Touch

This is perhaps one of the best shooter games available on the AppStore at the moment -  you get everything you could want from a shooter game right on this app, and you’ll never need to look anywhere ever again.

Metal Gear Solid is an extremely successful franchise and this game doesn’t fail to deliver.  The graphics are almost flawless and the sound is incredibly realistic - tie these treats in with a superb storyline and you’ve got a winner!
