AppStore Rejects Part ll - the apps that didn’t make the cut…

Last week we looked at a few of the applications that wanted to secure their place in AppStore history until Apple jumped in their way and threw their ideas in the bin…

Read on to find a continued list of the apps that didn’t quite make it into the AppStore;

•    Pull My Finger – According to the makers of this little app the reasons behind their failure to get on to the AppStore were quite unclear.  According to Sam Magdalein, the developer of Pull My Finger, “their reasons for banning us really didn’t add up.”

Perhaps Apple weren’t keen on providing their users with an app that supplied little other than a number of flatulent noises and that was their argument until recently when they decided to investigate the “new” genre which has paid off seeing as Pull My Finger has now enjoyed worldwide success – who would have though…

•    Murderdrome – The name sort of speaks for itself…it was fairly obvious that Apple weren’t going to be happy about letting this non-child friendly game loose onto their customers.  Apple have never been keen on releasing mature content onto their precious AppStore and Murderdrome didn’t really stand a chance!

The game’s developer, PJ Holden, didn’t take the news too well either stating that Apple needed to review their ratings policies - “Apple’s ‘reasonable judgment’ seems to depend largely on an individual reviewer’s judgment rather than any simple-to-gauge metric,” said Holden.

•    Podcaster – How successful do you think you’re going to be when you try to put an app similar to iTunes onto the AppStore – as Alex Sokirynky, the developer behind Podcaster, found out there isn’t much chance at all!

But Sokirynky didn’t stop at replicating iTunes’ capabilities, he claimed that his app was better - “Although my app does allow you to listen to podcasts like iTunes, it also allows you to download them directly to device, and that is something Apple does not offer.” We all know that’s not getting a place in the AppStore.

•    Slasher – This application suffered the same woes as its friend Murderdrome.  According to Apple, Slasher had too much “offensive content” for the AppStore and was halted in its tracks.

However, Slasher did manage to get one day of glory on the AppStore until it was unceremoniously ripped away from it without even an email of explanation.

The man behind the app, Josef Wankerl, was a bit upset over the whole situation, saying, “I tried contacting Apple to see if there was any way to resolve their concerns, but they never answered my e-mail.”

•    Freedom Time –
If you had wanted a countdown clock displaying exactly how long you would have to be waiting to watch President Bush step away from the White House a few months ago then this would have been the perfect app for you.

However, Apple turned the app back out of the door as they claimed that the app was designed to defame political figures…

Well, there you have it.  Some more AppStore rejects for you to ponder over…if there’s any more that you can think of then feel free to add them!  Where would the world be without the infamous failed apps?
