Can Fabregas Escape the Curse of Real Football 2009?

Cesc Fabregas was signed last week…by Gameloft to promote their new game Real Football 2009.

Details of the game have finally been released and it’s looking rather promising. You can choose from over 200 clubs to play including national teams, in six different leagues, in six different stadiums including the San Siro in Italy, and Old Trafford in Manchester.

A nifty feature of the game is the ability to play real-time multi-player matches via Bluetooth, much like Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.

The unique selling point of the game is that if you purchase Real Football manager Edition 2009, you will be able to export your team from that in to Real Football 2009 to play matches with.

With addition of this game, this year is looking pretty good for football fans with FIFA 09 and Pro Evo 2009 having been announced earlier this year.

There does happen to be a bit of a curse on the cover starts of Real Football…previous stars include Djibril Cisse – who went on to snap his leg, Oliver Kahn – who got dropped from the German squad, and Andrei Shevchenko – who got sent packing from Chelsea after a dire season. And who can forget the lanky robot Peter Crouch, who last season couldn’t get a place in Liverpool’s squad, sucked for England at Euro 2008, and then gets sold to Portsmouth.

Good luck Fabregas.
