Capcom is quite serious about harnessing the new mobile gaming market with its much popular Devil May Cry series games. It just released its PS2 version of the DMC3, which was announced last year, and mobile phone title Devil May Cry: Dante’s Awakening. The game is already a very big hit with the console audience, so mobile version is bound to be a hit too especially with people showing a lot of interest in mobile games these days. However, the game comes in java version, which means that you cannot expect the same kind of graphics, which are available on Nokia’s N-gage style games, but it is guaranteed to work on most of the mobile phones with J2ME support. The game is though a copy of DMC3, but do not expect similar effects from the mobile version as it runs on a resource-limited environment. There is another bad news that the game may not be officially released in the markets of Americas and Europe.

The game comes in five different languages including English. The devil-arms in game are Rebellion, Cerberus and Beowulf and the weapons for use are E&I, shotgun and spiral. The story has many parts, which are very easy, and as good as a walkthrough without killing even a single enemy. The game includes many boss battles against the Cerberus or against other opponents with immense defense abilities. Most of the game bosses have 3 hit combos like a stinger, drive helmbreaker or pop shredder. Aiming can sometimes be very difficult as the precision aiming is very difficult. There are sometimes annoying off-screen attacks by the enemy, which is due to, limited area of view possible in mobile phone display.

The game has about 50 missions, 7 different enemies and 2 styles with maximum level 10. The weapons are at maximum level of three. In the game all ranks from D to SS are possible but you need A or S to unlock most of the locked paths, although the rankings are made depending on time taken and the damage done to you, but it does not depend on your style-level which can be from “dope” to “stylish”.

The game is smooth and does not crash at all. However, it has sometimes frameskip~10. The download link to the game is given here. It’s a Japanese version though.
