DSi Tips – Know More Than Your Mate!

DSi – Tips and Advice

So you’ve got your new DSi in your hands and you’re ready to have a play at a few games.  That’s all great and good until you have had enough of gaming and you want to take your DSi to the next level…

Here are a few tips to keep you thrilled with your DSi even if you’re bored with actually playing on it…

1.    1000 free points – that’s right you can get free points to use in the DSi shop straight away…how great is that?  But you only have access to your free 1000 points until October 2009 so get to the shop and get virtually spending…

2.    Email – yes, you read that correctly…you can now get your Gmail, or any other emails, through your DSi while on the move.  Your DSi comes kitted with a browser that you can use to check your mail or browse the web through your nearest wi-fi network.

3.    How much? – Do you know how much DSi games and apps cost?  You buy software through the DSi shop using Nintendo points – you can get them for free or you can pay either 200, 500 and 800+ points for an app or a game…spend wisely because there is some naff stuff out there…

4.    How many? – Do you know how many games you can download and store on your swanky new DSi?  Well, you’ve been kitted out with a DSi that comes with a 256MB of internal memory so you can fill that until your heart’s delight.  If this isn’t enough (and it probably won’t be) you can also get hold of an SD card to slide into your DSi giving you up to 32GB of extra space for each card.

5.    No YouTube? – That’s right, there is no way to browse your way through the delights of YouTube’s video collection through your DSi unfortunately.  In a slightly ancient ideology Nintendo have decided not to fit their DSis with the ability to play flash video so YouTube and any other flash content is off the table!

6.    Conversion rate – Do you know how many Nintendo points you’re going to be able to buy for your pounds?  At the time of publishing £11.99 will buy you 1000 Nintendo points through Play.com – buy your points and virtually go and buy our games and apps…

7.    Browsing the web – Yes, you can browse the web using your DSi, but do you know how to?  As with all the DS predecessors there are two screens on the DSi:  one of the screens is the overview screen and the other at the bottom allows you to browse using your stylus.  Browsing fun all day long…
