Games/Movies – a recipe for success?

Since the beginning of time, or at least over recent years, the bridge between movies and games has enjoyed somewhat of a lukewarm connection – Max Payne, anyone?

It’s not always a good idea migrating a game to the silver screen and similarly the same applies for the other direction.  Still never let it be said that the AppStore is short of games that are based on movies…

Here are a few that you should pay some attention to as you may find that they may be just what you have been looking for to play away those boring Monday mornings on the bus.

The Dark Knight: Batmobile Game

As you can guess the first game on the list is based on one of the most successful comic book adaptations since the creation of the cinema.  The comic, or graphic novel as Bat fans like to call it, has enjoyed great success having migrated to both the small and big screens and it’s now buzzing on the iPhone.

There isn’t the in-depth gaming experience gained from playing on the likes of a PS3 but no one is really expecting such a feat from a tidy little portable gaming device – drive Batman around Gotham City, avoiding obstacles in the meantime.

Fast and Furious: Pink Slip

The Fast and the Furious name has been dragged through the mud over the past couple of films but the original cast is back for the fourth in the series and with them comes the arrival of the game version of the film for the iPhone.

Obviously this is a driving game and as the name suggests you battle it out on the streets to win pink slips of other cars.  There are 32 different challenges that you can have a go at and 32 cars to win.

Iron Man: Aerial Assault

Iron Man was a huge surprise in the box office in 2008 and enjoyed fantastic success when it was expected to flop.  So now you can get that one step further to becoming the legend himself by having a play at the game.

In Iron Man: Aerial Assault you can fly Iron Man around the skies and fight off enemies with whatever weapon he has attached to him – sounds like fun!

Lightsaber Unleashed

OK – this app is not exactly a game, but it’s based on Star Wars and it’s fun!  In this app you can swing your iPhone around as if it were a lightsaber and listen to all the funky sounds that come with the device.

What’s more is the app is free…you can’t beat that.

This isn’t all we have to offer – there are plenty more to fill up your time and make you feel a little closer to your heroes on the big screen.  There will be more movie/games featured tomorrow so stay tuned but for now why don’t you search around the AppStore, download the games above and have a play around.
