Games Analyst Moans about Console he’s never played
A professional games analyst (how the hell do you land a job as easy as that?) has slammed Nintendo’s DSi update, saying that the Japanese games giant should have done more to make it a better upgrade.
Wedbush Morgan games analyst Michael Pachter said that he “expected an accelerometer to help compete against the iPhone”.
“I’m not sure why they didn’t include it, and it would have been a bit more of a differentiator from the current DS Lite, so I think it would have helped consumers justify an upgrade.”
It’s not all bad though. Although he bashed the DSi’s inadequacy versus the iPhone he believes that it will easily stand up to the Sony PSP.
“I think its closer to the PSP than the DS Lite, and for the Japanese market, perhaps close enough,” he said.
Pachter backtracks a bit by saying he believes the DSi’s ability to download games directly to the console will help widen the appeal of the handheld, but he’s unsure if the console does enough for gaming.
“I’m not sure that the DSi will revolutionise gameplay, and ultimately, that is the feature that will address a broader demographic,” he concludes.
To be honest, I never trust these so-called analysts as its just one person’s opinion against another, and i think rubbishing a product before you get a chance to play it is wrong. Choosing sides when it comes to gaming has always happened. I fondly remember arguing over whether my Atari was better than my mates Amiga. But I don’t need analyst to tell me that the Atari’s graphics were worse than the Amiga’s. I’ll reserve judgement until I have a DSi in my hand and a PSP 3000 in the other.

Everyone hates the DSi, its a rubbish update that no-one cares about, or for that matter, waste their money on!
