Games not to buy this Christmas….
Christmas brings the best and the worst out of consumer buying. People will generally go out, venture into the local city-centre and buy what they require. Clothes, music etc- there just are somethings that are not worth buying as they co-exist in a juxtaposition with essential purchases. It is no different with games. Despite some front covers of games looking like Holly Valance but end up playing like a conversation with Lady Gaga-just not worth the effort; are there games out there that really aren’t worth purchasing when production costs and values are so high? Oh yes unfortunately…….here is why.
RECENT RELEASES
2011 has been nothing short of a prolific year for gaming. Arguably it could be the year the world begins to accept the medium seriously. As well as the good there has also been games that have been such an embarrassment to gaming in some ways more than others. Need For Speed: The Run shows that the series may well be running out of steam. Widely criticised and widely approved as no more of a rinse/repeat procedure from EA-this is not worth the time and certainly not the money. Not a bad game as such but Dead Island certainly does nothing new to make it essential and worthy to buy. To summarise, the game plagiarises elements from both Borderlands and Left 4 Dead (which incidentally are two vastly superior games) to create a different take on a co-op survival game. However, a buggy flawed mess of a title does not excuse the unique take on the sub-genre to its credit.
BARGAIN BIN (conversation at a game shop/store)
Tempted by a cheap game to tide you in over the holidays? Sure why not. What do you have in mind? Well I was tempted by Homefront and Mindjack when they came out in the first quarter of 2011-are they any good? Erm…no. Really? What about Homefront? Well the multiplayer is something of a guilty treat at times but is vastly similar to MAG and Medal of Honor which is around the same price and far better. Oh…dare I ask about the single player? Nope…just don’t get me started on Mindjack. Why? A game that plays so badly it is on par with watching “The room” with some ugliness and pathetic flaws that shouldn’t exist like poor dialogues, camera angles and just the game in general-just no!!! Okay then..so I should stick with Skyrim? Yeah good idea. I shall take it to the till for you….
