GPS Gaming: The future of Mobile Games?
The combination of mobile gaming an GPS could prove to be a great thing, but so far developers have ignored it in favour of action games, and sport. However, German mobile marketing company Zelfi hs came up with three GPS-powered games that use the new Google Android powered G1 phone from T-Mobile.
Joyity consists of three games with a location-based theme; YouCatch, Roads of San Francisco and City Race Munich.
YouCatch looks the most interesting of the three. A multiplayer manhunt style game, each player is assigned a ‘kill’ or ‘killer’, and when you get within 25 feet of your victim, pressing a button on the handset ‘kills’ them, but also reveals your position in the map.
Roads of San Francisco is a treasure hunt style game that gives you clues when you get to certain areas of the assistant.
Details on City Race Munich are still vague at present, but I suspect it has something to do with running around lots.
Joyity is unique in that it allows users to design their own games, of course limited to the amount of friends you have that own an G1 handset.
