How To Start Up Your Own iPhone Band
Digital Music
We’ve had normal music and we’re done with it - instruments are a thing of the past. Today we can turn to our little friend the iPhone to fulfil our instrumental needs.
I don’t know if you’re aware of this but you can actually create a full compliment of instruments all from your iPhone and get together with your pals and play tunes through the night.
Listed below are the top iPhone instrument apps that you should download and play right now if you are serious about getting your rock on…
Real Bongos
You might think that two circles of varying diameter on your iPhone could be seen as a bit of a rip off, however, they are so much more than you would think at first.
The Real Bongos are as real as they possibly could be on a touch screen. As with real bongos the closer to the top of each drum you tap the louder the volume - however, 5 minutes on this app and you’ll be done…
Didgeridoo
You’ll be happy to know that the Apple version of the Didgeridoo is by no means as difficult to pick up and play as the real deal - all you have to do is touch the different sections of the instrument and open and close your mouth around the microphone.
FreePiano
Finally an instrument that is actually featured in a few real bands - there are a number of different piano apps performing different variations of the same job but FreePiano is by far the cheapest (if you hadn’t guessed by the name, it’s free!).
You have the option to play either in grand mode or toy mode and you are spoilt with the option of playing within two whole octaves.
Ocarina
If ever you have found yourself on a bus with an ogre that needed to be calmed down with the soothing sounds of the Ocarina then you’ll understand just how important this app is.
This app is pretty inventive as it allows the user to blow into the Smartphone’s microphone and touch the screen to play different notes. You can find, if you look hard enough, serious competitions involving “Ocarina-Offs” where one Zelda lover takes on the other Zelda lover to see which one can play the instrument better…I think the iPhone was built for this reason alone…
PocketGuitar
What band is complete without a guitar - PocketGuiatar lets you play real chords and strum the strings as if you were a real guitarist with a real guitar. You can even blend, distort and delay notes with the accelerometer. You might have to take a couple of days off work to get the technique down but once you have it you’ll be playing it whenever you get the chance.
Bring on the ladies…
Planning on making a band?
Do you think you could create a full on band with your iPhones like the band aptly named, iBand? Do you think it’s a bit of a ridiculous suggestion? Let us know…
