How To Turn Your PSP Into a Portable TV!
Television on your PSP.
Have you ever been sitting on the bus, or on the tube, or basically travelling with a bunch of people and you have looked over to see a guy or a girl with their legendary white headphones plugged into their ears and they are sucked into watching some film on their iPhone – and you got a bit jealous?
We’ve all been there but at least if you’ve got a PSP your envious days are finally over. There’s a few simple steps that you have to take to get your videos onto your PSP and then you can sit there yourself and make someone else jealous!
Granted you have to shell out a little but of money for the privilege as you’ll need to get hold of a memory stick before starting the process but once you have one you’ll be good to go.
So you have your 2GB memory stick in hand…what now?
The first thing you’ll have to do is download a software called PSPVideo9 which will convert the films that you want to watch on your PSP. Do a Google for the software and you should find it pretty easily.
Once you’ve downloaded the software and it’s installed onto your computer fire it up. It’s going to ask you which drive your PSP is so just follow the prompted messages and set your PSP up through the applications.
You’re going to be taken to a conversion screen and to make the whole thing as easy as possible just select “One Click Transcode”. Then simply find the film that you are going to want to watch on your PSP and select “Open”.
Take a chill pill…
This is the waiting section of the tutorial – sit back, put the kettle on or run a bath. The software is going to be converting the movie file into one that will be able to be read on the PSP.
To save a bit of time if there are a number of other movies you’re going to want to convert for the PSP then you can add them to a waiting list by once again selecting the “One Click Transcode” option, finding the films you want to convert and selecting “Open”.
Once you have dried yourself off from your bath and you have a fresh cup of coffee in your mits it’s time to find the converted file. You should find the file in C:\Program Files\PSPVideo9\MP_ROOT (Windows). Have a little search around and you’ll find it.
Almost there!
The last steps will involve you transferring the converted file(s) over to the PSP – by now of course you’ll be itching to get it done so you can show off to random people in the streets so all you have to do is copy the whole MP_ROOT folder straight over to the PSP drive.
You’re done – unplug your PSP, slap the memory card back into the device and away you go – just remember to look up when you cross the road…
