Is JAVA Finally Set To Appear On The Apple iPhone?

Despite being a surprising absence from the initial iPhone model, it seems that JAVA may be about to finally crack the iPhone market with an update due next year.  If the rumours are correct, Apple are set to release a Software Development Kit in early 2008 which will allow technicians to up load a form of JAVA to any iPhone.

It seems that the Phone ME version of JAVA is the most likely of the open source code to be used, and allow JAVA to finally take the stage on the most popular phone of all time.  Even though JAVA is already available on the majority of mobile phones on the market – with game play one of the more popular uses – Apple had decided to incorporate their own game play system on the iPhone – perhaps to stop JAVA stealing any of their thunder?

JAVA is fast becoming the Google of the online interactive world, with new markets opening up on a regular basis.  In an encouraging development, Sun Microsoft recently announced that up until this moment all spin-offs of the original JAVA base code were compatible with the base code, and there had been no issues reported.  It is hoped that this will continue well into the future, because this is the strength of any open source code offering – the need for all version and spin offs to be compatible with the base code, otherwise it cannot really be part of the JAVA stable.

Open Source has real benefits to all parties involved, but the rules need to be respected.
