JAVA Security Leak Plugged On Firefox

Good news for Firefox users out there as it has been confirmed that a JAVA security problem has been plugged and the browser is now safe to use with JAVA applications.

While Firefox 3 is in beta testing stage, Firefox 2 was where the JAVA problem was found.  Due to a problem with the code it was possible to side step a number of filters and security issues by inserting malicious spyware, etc into a .jar file which could then be unzipped, tagging spyware, etc onto a whole host of applications from browsing to emails and more.

This a reflection of how opportunistic many of these hackers are, and the fact they had found this .jar file bug makes you wonder how much work they actually put into their investigations! It is just as well this JAVA bug has been sorted because the application code is becoming common place in more and more applications and word really is spreading.
