Java – What it is and where it came from.

Java, which refers to many different computer software and specifications from Sun Microsystems, gives a system for creating application software and displays it in a cross-platform environment. Java is used in many different platforms which include many different high-end and low-end uses. Some of the high-end uses include super computers and enterprise servers. On the other hand, low-end uses include cellular phones and embedded devices. Java applets are what runs these programs. This has become a very useful and great way to program. When writing in the Java programming language, the codes are deployed as Java bytecode. Along with that, there are many different compilers, which are programs that translate text written in a computer language into another language, that you can use for coding with Java. There are also various programming languages which are related to Java, such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby, and a native scripting language called Groovy. JavaScript, the first language mentioned that is related to Java, is closely related to Java. It was produced by the company Netscape. It is used within HTML web pages to make the interface more interactive with the person browsing the web and relies on the browser to interpret the data.

Java is a network-friendly language, often used to build large and complex systems that involves many computers interacting across a network. Transaction processing systems is an example of this. Another very common use of Java is to create programs that can safely download to your computer from the internet and run immediately and you don’t have to worry about malicious programs sniffing around your computer, such as viruses, spyware, malware, or any other malicious computer programs. JDK, also known as Java Development Kit, is a software designed and developed also by Sun Microsystems that give the basic tools to write, test, and debug Java applications and applets.

The history of Java goes all the way back to the early 90’s, and was a small secret project which was called “the Green Project” at Sun Microsystems. “The Green Project” only had 13 staff members, which was led by James Gosling in a small, anonymous office on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park. They had cut off all regular communication with Sun Microsystems, and worked around the clock for a long one and a half years. They wanted to create the “next wave” in computing, and have succeeded by creating a brand new trend of digitally controlled devices and computers. A programming language that was independent on devices was created, and code-named “Oak.” This was the result of 18 months of hard work. Java powers more than 4.5 billion devices, including over 800 million personal computers, over 1.5 billion cellular phones and handheld devices, 2.2 billion smart cards, and even printers, games, web cams, automobile navigation systems, parking payment stations, lottery terminals, and medical devices. This describes how efficient and secure this language must be.

With this in conclusion, Java technology in networks and devices that range from many different computer and internet related devices to Wall Street market simulators and even credit cards, is quite possibly the new and improved industry worldwide.
