I live in AUS and the mobile phone carriers here are calling up offering free iphones on the contracts now plus an xbox 360 or a handy cam or a mini laptop.
So i don’t know if it is because of the GEC (Global Economic Crisis) or that they are trying to sell as any of the remaining iphones as possible.
Hmmmmmmmm not certain which one it is.

Same story here as Robin - an offer from O2 to upgrade my 1st gen iPhone to the 3G - 6 months early and free on a 2 yr contract. Needless to say I’m hanging in there to wait for the next one - whenever that may be!

I’m Living in MTL and I’m starting to see new commercials for the iphone on TV and its only may 2009 so i think apple is trying to force there costumers to buy it now before the new one comes out and who are they targeting students can you believe it. And also all around Montreal they took down all the billboards with the ipod chromatic and replaced them with ipod touch. I”m starting to see the way apple works, they come out with something and then disappear for a while come back and announce there stuff once more before bringing out there new stuff. So to all you people that like apple just look for the signs there easy to fined!

I have heard a rumour of a new iphone release from a friend who works for O2 in the UK. He told me that even though I have several months left on my contract he wouldn’t be suprised if O2 offered to upgrade my mark1 iphone to the 3g version early. Low and behold 5 days later I get a message from O2 offering the upgrade 6 months before I would normally be allowed to. I’m now thinking that this is because they have a stock pile they need to get rid of before the release of the new one this summer. Just all seems too much of a coincidence to me. Of course, Im holding out till the summer now to upgrade. Success to all….
