Nintendo announce their first batch of DSi Ware games
After six weeks of comfortable being in the palms of almost every Japanese handheld gamer, the Nintendo DSi guys are finally ready to release a multitude, if you want to call if that, of games available for the console. There’s no need to sit down though because the list won’t be making anyone keel over in excitement.
The games magazine, Famitsu, has been given permission by Nintendo to be the first to tell the world about the first pile of DSi friendly games that will be un-surprisingly be made available on Christmas eve – just in time for those last minute presents.
The games will be available for download through the DSi Ware service. But “what games will I be able to get?” I hear you cry. Well the answer is none…unless you picked up your Nintendo DSi on your last trip to Japan, in which case, read on.
To start with, Nintendo are generously giving each and every one of its DSi users the chance to download the Moving Memo Book absolutely free. The book does exactly what it says on the tin and to go into detail about the application would be an insult to you and to me so I won’t. However, the Memo Book does come with a couple of cool extra features that will allow the DSi user to utilise the on-board camera by creating a comic book which can be passed around the DSi waves to your mates until the cows come home.
Games that are costing around the 200 point mark are your average smaller sized games. Birds and Beans, Paper Airplane and A Little Magic Tournament are all fairly self explanatory, or maybe not. The Birds game sees the user play the role of a bird trying to catch beans, as they do. Paper Airplane allows the player to control (you guessed it) a paper airplane. However, the Magic Tournament is a little tricky because it’s three games in one and Nintendo expect you to pay for each game separately, which is a little sneaky. Still, the three games – shuffle, funny face and scary numbers – should provide ample entertainment.
The fact that the next set of games are priced at 500 points-per-game should be a little more exciting. Art Style Aquario and Art Style Decode, A Little Dr Mario, Utsusu Made in Wario and Simple Trumps are all available for 500 points. The games are more of your middle class games, which offer just that little bit more entertainment and fun compared to the 200 pointers. You can play Dr. Mario or Sudoku – that’s basically this level’s message.
And finally, Nintendo give the user the chance to experience the upper class games that will be priced at 800 points. You may be expecting state of the art gaming on your DSi, and you’re absolutely right as long as you expect writing and mathematics. That’s wright, Brain Training for 800 points. Maybe Nintendo have excelled themselves here beyond expectations – maybe not.
