Peter Molyneux to Develop Games on DS?
Peter Molyneux, the man famous for over-hyping his upcoming releases, a-la Fable, has been speaking about working on the DS in an interview with Joystiq, and how his studio, Lionhead (who are owned by Microsoft) could be making a game for DS in the future.
When he was asked if Microsoft would allow such a thing in the wake of Rare (also under Microsoft’s vast wing) developing Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, Molyneux said:
“We’re not doing anything like that, but if we had a good case for something like that I think it would be taken seriously. DS is a very interesting system. If we were to do something on it, I’d take a serious look at doing something unique with the stylus and touch screen mechanics.”
He added, “I think the best game on the system is [Legend of Zelda] Phantom Hourglass by a long, long way. It’s just such an amazing achievement.”
The man behind games such as Fable, Black & White, and Populous, has a habit of opening his mouth and letting nonsense splutter out, so don’t read into his comments too much. His studio is however working on a ‘mystery title’, but with the draw of Xbox360, it’s fair to say it’ll end up far from the DS.
