They’re free…why not try ‘em?
We’re not supposed to be smiling at the moment, what with the recession, unemployment rates and the price of fuel back on the rise. However through all the doom and gloom it’s nice to know that you can still get your hands on some cost-free apps for your iPhone.
• Sportacular – We are a country of sports-lovers. Whether it’s football, cricket or bowls you want to stay up to date with this is your app. Sportacular is a great way of keeping your eye on scores and stats as they happen…what more could you ask for?
There’s an added advantage and incentive for fantasy league fans to get their hands on the app as Sportacular allows you to keep track of specific players…it’s the perfect companion to Fantasy Football, surely!
• Tap Tap Revenge – If you don’t have this already then go to the AppStore and download it right now! This game has been building up a really strong following. Following on in the same theme as Guitar Hero you have to tap the phone’s touch screen to hit the notes – simple? Not quite…
This app is packed with loads of exciting twists to keep you busy for hours – if the tapping actions aren’t enough for you, how about getting free tracks from Gogo Apps every week and a library of over 50 tunes to have a bash at. Did I mention it was free?
What takes this game beyond the others is the classy ability to play a game in multiplayer mode with other iPhones in close vicinity. Marvellous!
• Shazam – This little app is a fantastic utility that allows you to find out exactly what song you are listening to. Simply click “tag now” and aim the phone in the direction of the music and your answer will appear before your very eyes.
You won’t be losing many pub quiz music rounds with this tidy little app and you’ll have a laugh at the same time! Shazam is faster than you would think and most of the time it’s accurate too. And the app also gives you the option to check out the video of the song on YouTube as well…like a little music butler!
• AP Mobile News Network – The world is always changing so why not keep up to date with the world’s news? Well, with this little app you can do just that…the AP in the title stands for Associated Press and with that title comes just about all the news that you could possibly handle…and a little bit more!
If you thought the BBC or Sky News actually found their own news then I’m afraid you would be sadly mistaken – they all get their news from either the Associated Press or Reuters…with this little app you can too!
