Making money from useless ideas…

There comes a time when you have an amazing idea – you want to bring something completely useless to the world and you want to make money off it!  It’s all happened to us but not many of us have actually had the initiative to go out and do it…unlike Kostas Eleftheriou, the creative mind behind iSteam!

When Kostas jumped out of the shower one morning and turned towards the mirror that was soaked in steam he had a money making idea that would change his life forever – he came up with iSteam which was an app that would allow iPhone users to play around with a steam covered mirror until their hearts were content – what a simple idea!

He knew it would only take a couple of days to make but it could be a winner because of the simple fact that anyone could pick up the app and be amused!  And he was right…iSteam has already brought in around £40,000 and it only took him a week to create.

So what is this new era we are witnessing here?  We used to work hard for our money and now it seems that we can create an “out-of-the-box” app and have enough money to buy a house – which is pretty great, I think!

Top Useless Apps…

So what other apps are you playing with that are totally useless but have probably made some developer a small fortune?  You can find these little beauties on the AppStore on the cheap…

•    Virtual Zippo Lighter – If you don’t smoke but you still want to capture the smouldering coolness of he 90s then get hold of this app.  You’ll be provided with all the noises that you have come to love over the years from the clink of the lid to the scratch of the flint wheel.

•    Koi Pond – There’s nothing better to lower your blood pressure than to watch a group of graphically created Koi fish floating around in a pond.  Put the app on and sit back and chill – the water ripples sound great and there is little better out there to calm you down!

•    iBeer – There can be no “useless” list without this useless app.  iBeer is one of those apps that you whip out to impress a mate and then never use again, but it’s worth it for that truly impressed laugh you get.  Suck back on your iPint in what can only be described as a realistic experience without the taste or the cost…

•    BubbleWrap – A must have app for anyone.  It doesn’t even need an explanation, just get popping and feel the stress flow out of your body – if you don’t have it, get it right now!
