Will Mobile Gaming Ever Be As Big As Console Gaming?

Raining MoneyWhile on the surface this may seem something of a strange and rather obvious question to ask, with the obvious answer being no, is this really the case further down the line? Is there no chance that mobile gaming can real crack the games console market?

If you cast your eyes back to the days before the games console, the time when you played those PC games on your desktop and thought they were the best in the world, would you ever have seen games consoles taking over that market? Could you ever see the situation when you would buy a machine just for the gaming capabilities?

Back in those days the games console was something which had never even been thought of, but it appeared and has changed the gaming market forever. While the earlier versions of the games consoles of today were no where near as powerful and attractive to the consumer, are we not at a similar stage with mobile gaming?

At the moment the only thing which is holding mobile gaming back from hitting the big time is the capabilities of the mobile phone handsets of today. As yet they are not able to offer anywhere near the standard of platform afforded to the console gaming industry, but slowly this is changing.

One of the main factors to appear of late is the willingness of the major companies around the world to actually start investing big bucks into the development of future mobile gaming systems. JAVA is the coding choice of the masses and continues to progress with more and more functions added to the system. All we need now is for one of the major handset manufacturers to take up the batten and run with the idea that mobile gaming is the way forward and surely the rest will follow?

Mobile gaming is fast becoming a large market, but when we look back in 10 years time we will realise that this is only just the start!
